Last week I decided to trim his hair again. We like to keep it long enough for it to curl, but cut it when it starts getting in his eyes or ears. This time I really wasn't satisfied with how terribly uneven I'd cut it, so I asked my dad how long he could cut it using his electric cutter thingy. He said he could cut it to where it was an inch long, which I thought sounded good so we draped the black cape around him and got started. To my and Daiju's dismay, it was more like 1mm than 1". He looks great; it's just not what we'd wanted. It'll grow out though. At least it flatters him in the meantime and we won't have to cut it for a while...or even comb it! I do hope he still cooperates for the comb once it grows out...
Ignore the raspberry jam on his face in the "before" picture (left). This is before we trimmed it. I didn't get a pic of it trimmed--just after my dad cut it (right).
"Minnie," as my youngest sister has nicknamed our daughter whose name shall remain a secret until her birth, is 22 weeks along. The midwife said my belly is measuring just right and her heart rate is still great, as it has been throughout the pregnancy. The OB said he thinks it's unlikely that there'll be any complications with the pregnancy. She's a healthy weight at about 15 ounces. She moves a lot! On MLK Day, we were able to feel her moving from the outside for the first time. Since then she's been kicking up a storm. She moves more often and more intensely than Mickey did, I think. And now, about two weeks since that first tangible kick, we can SEE her movement from the outside at times! When it first happened last night, I was so surprised. I know babies do that sometimes, but I don't remember it happening with Mickey. She moves a lot and all over the place! I'm so glad she's healthy and active. I'm very curious what kind of a little girl she'll become. We will get to meet her in about four months!!! We are so excited.
"Minnie" now kicks Mickey when I am holding him sometimes. It's really funny. I don't think he's noticed yet himself though. I'm really curious what their relationship will be like... Daiju and his sister were always sweet to each other and looking out for each other. Me and my older brother fought like an old couple. Me and my younger brother got along okay once we got older, but when he was a baby my mom said I'd try to leave him at home when we all went somewhere. "Bye-bye, baby," my two-year-old self would say. I hope Mickey is a little nicer than that! Currently I think he has mixed feelings about Minnie. It'll be an adjustment for everyone but I think it'll be a very good change for all of us.
