Lately

Well, after a week on the medication my fingers are still arthritic. Not sure if they're getting any better or worse. Maybe a little worse, but then I have been using them so that could be part of it. (???) I know very little about arthritis...

I forgot to mention that New Years went well. We had a good time with Daiju's family. I'll try to post some pictures later.

Last Sunday we had our second-ever English Sunday School class. The Scripture was I Cor. 3:10-17. This time a couple of young ladies at church were able to come, as well as Daiju and a family I met through work. I don't think the latter are Christians yet, but they went to church many times when they lived in Boston last year (they were there for a year on business). The father, mother, and their daughter all came! They also attended the service. Afterward I had lunch with them. (Daiju had to go to work immediately after the service, so he couldn't join us. Hopefully we can all get together sometime in the near future.) Any way, there were maybe 11 people there total.
I think we had a pretty good discussion. Hopefully we'll all be able to remember to apply what we've learned!!

Last week was fun but tiring. I taught at three kindergartens! The first one, which I'm going to today (Tuesday), is four 40-minute lessons of 2-6 students each. But I have long breaks there so I'm there from 2pm-5:30pm. Plus the commute is long (two trains and a bus) so I leave home no later than 12:30 and get back a little before 7pm.
The second one is generally every other week, but this month it's three weeks in a row. It's six 20-minute lessons of 5-8 students on Wednesday mornings. There's no break, so I'm teaching non-stop from 10am-12pm. The commute isn't as long (three trains?) as the one on Tuesday, but I still have to leave home pretty early so I can change trains on time. It's about a 10-minute walk from the station.
The third one is every other Thursday morning. It's basically the same schedule as Wednesday's kindergarten, except there are about 15 kids per lesson and I move from room to room instead of them coming to me. And the commute is almost identical to the second kindergarten, only I have to take a bus.

Daiju worked six days again this past week. He'll do the same again this week, but after that he should go back to his regular schedule for a while. Yesterday (Monday), we went to Cost-Co with a couple of friends. I bought twice as much granola as last time!! And Daiju was excited to buy an electric toothbrush there. We all had a good time, I think.

Next Monday I'll go back to the doctor again. Hopefully he'll be able to figure out what's up with my fingers. The same day we're planning on meeting some old friends from Texas who'll be in town. We're very much looking forward to seeing them!

Last night Daiju noticed he's coming down with something. He felt like he had a temperature, but the thermometer said otherwise. But fever or not he feels sick. Yet that didn't stop him from going to work today. He left early to go to a meeting. Hopefully he'll have some time between the meeting and work to see a doctor, if he's still feeling under the weather.

I don't like that the weather is so cold right now, but I'm glad there are blue skies, lots of sunshine, and little humidity. Once summer roles around, it will get really humid and rain a lot. Ugh. Oh well. Last summer wasn't as bad as the previous, so maybe this year will be okay too.

Keep in touch!!!
