Dietary Changes

{side note: Congrats to me on my 100th post!!!}

I was thinking about how my eating/dietary habits have changed a bit since I moved here. For example...

> I seldom eat sugary yogurt now.
I eat the plain kind and put fruit in it.

> I get cravings for tofu.
This just started like a week ago. I NEVER thought THAT would happen!

> I'm no longer classified as a ketchup-aholic.
...by American standards, any way. I might still be according to the Japanese.

> I drink aloe vera juice every day.
My mother-in-law sends boxes of it to us. She likes healthy stuff.

> I only eat beef like once a week.
In the States I ate it almost every day, but it's much more expensive than other meat and harder to come by here. I guess if I actually COOKED dinner every day, I might eat it more often. But I can't with my schedule. Any way...

> I eat sweets about three times a week (more or less).
Again, I used to eat sweets practically every day (back in the US), but not anymore. I'm not sure if that's a product of living here or just the fact that we're living on our own & buying our own food now. I dunno.
Oh, and by "sweets" I mean sugary & chocolatey things--not fruit. Fruit qualifies as a dessert here. And I'm not counting cereal. :)

> I eat Italian pasta only 2 or 3 times a month.
Part of this is because of "natsubate." Because of the humidity combined with the summer heat, I've lost much of my appetite (unbelievable, I know). So, I've been eating a lot of cold Japanese noodles with fresh and pickled veggies. It's easier to eat cold things than hot.

> I drink less water than I used to, and I drink tea more often.
This is because it costs money to drink anything. Water fountains aren't common, and when you see them you can tell they aren't the best place to drink!! I still drink more water than most of the people I work with, though.
Oh, and they often serve tea during Sunday School, so I almost always drink it there.

It'll start cooling down soon, so I'm looking forward to being able to eat easily again!

For now, we're in a "kawariyasui" weather period. Meaning, it'll be hard to predict if it's gonna rain or not or how hot or cool it'll be. Daiju's complained (jokingly) a couple of times because he's brought his umbrella to work, but it never rained. Sorry!!! The weatherman deceived me!!!

I hope all is well with you who are reading this. Do send me an email or something sometime to let me know how things are going for you!
